As a recipient of several international competitions (2009 Montreal International Recorder Competition -1st prize and prize for best interpretation of the compulsory contemporary piece, 2009 SRP/Moeck International Competition-3rd prize), Leonard Kwon is one of the rising soloists of his instrument.Leonard Kwon

After receiving music lessons from his mother who was a amateur pianist, he continued to study Musicology at Seoul National University of Arts. Due to his passion and love to early music and recorder playing, he moved to the Netherlands and studied recorder with Reine-Marie Verhagen and participated courses by Daniel Brüggen, Peter Kooij and Ton Koopman from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague.

As a Soloist he tours regularly with the Korea based chamber orchestra JK ensemble, Collegium Musicum Hanyang. Leonard is the founder of ‘Mattheson Ensemble' and the co-founder of early music ensemble ‘Concordi Musici'.
